A soprano recorder in C is generally a good starting point due to its size and familiar tonality. But truly, any well-crafted recorder that feels comfortable is suitable for learning.
Progress can be very individual, but with consistent practice, most students begin to see improvements in their playing within the first few months. Our courses are designed to give you quick wins while also building a strong foundation for ongoing development.
Your recorder, a cleaning rod, and cloth for maintenance, as well as a method book with fingering charts. A quiet practice space is also beneficial for focused learning and playing.
Absolutely! Our online recorder courses are designed to mimic the structure and personal attention you’d receive in-person. At Alauda Dulcis, we prioritize creating a constructive, relaxed and fun learning atmosphere. We do not force participation; instead, we first work with the student to understand any underlying issues and encourage their willingness to learn. Our goal is to foster an environment where students feel comfortable and enthusiastic about picking up their instrument when they’re ready.
But, should a student repeatedly show reluctance to play or fail to bring their learning materials to class, we implement a clear and fair warning system. After the first two instances, we communicate with the parents to address the situation. If there’s no improvement and it happens a third time, the student will be unenrolled from our school, with a full refund issued. This policy ensures that we honor the commitment of our students and respect the waitlist of eager learners ready to engage and benefit from the education we provide.
